Son to Son
We sat at the end of the bar so we could chat with the bartender and get some nice insights on what wine would pair well with our food. I thought we were going to have a light meal but as it turns out we had what amounted to 3 light meals.
We started with oysters and a crisp white wine. We followed that with a soft shell crab sandwich that was outrageous. Messy, tasty and good to the last bite. Also in that course we had a salad with some anchovies (I could be wrong here on the fish) and a killer soppressata from California.
Course 3 Tarikh had the beef shank and I had the pappardelle pictured below. Done al dente and mixed with a stock broth, goat cheese and an uncased spicy sausage it really hit the spot.
So I though we were done. We already at a ton, polished off some white wine and a bottle of red. It was well after 11pm on a Thursday and we probably should have called it a night.
Instead Tarikh ordered a whiskey and I ordered a rhubarb crisp with vanilla ice cream. As I have said before I am a real sucker for rhubarb. It hit the spot.
We lingered a bit more just to digest a touch be for we thanked the staff and headed out. I was worried Marlow and sons would be a lot of hype, but I was pleasantly surprised. They take their food seriously and they really have some fresh ingredients. I will be back.
