We first learned about Hawk Krall and his illustrations on a trip to Philly. We popped into Hot Diggity, a South St. Hot Dog joint, and the menu was a set up 15+ visual masterpieces. The walls at Hot Diggity are embellished with Hawk’s unique designs. Besides listing the ingredients and displaying the hotdog, he peppers in specifics about the cities the Frank’s are named after creating art so interesting that they sell prints of the menu. Hawk’s gone on to illustrate lots more food things. From festivals to T-Shirts to MORE menus, his unique hand preemptively conveys the food fun your about to have.

Charted Cheese Wheel Poster
I’m of the philosophy that if you’re not lucky enough to be currently eating cheese, you may as well as be thinking about the next cheese you’re going to eat — a little advance preparation never hurt anyone, right? And if you’re spending your time thinking about the next cheese you’re going to eat, then it better be something more exciting than your weekly ration of chèvre from the grocery store. (Although I do love you, weekly ration of goat cheese from the grocery store.) What better way to think about the next cheese you’re going to eat than with a handy and oh-so-pretty visual guide? Enter the Charted Cheese Wheel, this cheese-shaped cheese chart of the 65 best pressed curds of milk from around the world is for both the established and aspirational experts among us. Not seeing some of your faves? (I’m looking at you, époisses). The chart’s tiny drawings, color coding, and category breakdown will help you expand your aged milk horizons. I, for one, am going to shake up my weekly dairy run with some new varieties of goat cheese. I wonder if my grocery store carries pantysgawn? (Trust me, just click the link).
Vans Pizza Slip-ons
I’ve been wearing Vans since I was 11. The resurgence of this brand into the mainstream made me smile something fierce. Then they went and did the unthinkable. Marry the classic slip on to a classic slice. If they say you can’t have your pie and wear it too, this just changed the rules. Vans Pizza Slip-ons are perfect for that midnight run to that randomly named pizza joint down the block. (if you live in NYC anyway). I bet you can get it to the point where all you have to do is point to your feet and Mike will dish you up a hot one.
Delaney Barbecue T-Shirt
While we’re on the topics of BBQ and Hawk Krall this week. Daniel Delany, of Briskettown fame, contracted a limited edition Delaney Barbecue T-Shirt for his smoking hot (literally) bbq empire. It’s limited edition run all but sold out as quickly as Daniel’s fried chicken pop-up feast did last summer. We’re hoping Hawk and Briskettown will do a re-release this summer or collaborate again sooner than sooner.
Hadron Epoch Veggie Notes
The Renegade-avocado hits keep on coming. This time from LA designer, Hadron Epoch. We love their stationary and we LOVE their notebooks even more. Although we don’t really love the way they articulated their evolution. “Our goal is to create a sense of lifestyle for everyday adventurers who are inspired to look outside of their comfort zone for the best experiences in life.” We’re huge experience people. Adventure is our middle name. Comfort zones are for wimps, we agree. But, we yearned for a little more substance in those words. It did come in their craft so maybe we should just shut up and write in these beautifully bound, paper perfect, journals.
