This year for Thanksbringing we decided to try our best not to bite off more than we can chew. Our strategy was simple, focus on meat that cooks itself. The above lamb was one of our 4 meat dishes. Originally this lamb shoulder was spun on the rotisserie but a bad drip pan and small fire changed it’s fate. Finished in the oven with a lovely onion and wine sauce by my neighbor, the ever present Horst.
We also brought…

This year for Thanksgiving I headed down south with the southerner. We hopped into the car and made the normally 7 hour trip to Yorktown VA, in 9 hours. Can not believe how many accidents were on the road. We got caught in every one of them. Lucky us!

I bet yesterday was a rough day back. I hope you all had as amazing and as restful a Thanksgiving weekend as I did. I clocked in with an average of 8.5 hours of sleep per night. That’s unheard of in this family. Well rested and well fed I share with you a few of the delicious, authentic, fresh and traditional goodie’s my amazing mother-in-law whipped up for our London, Ontario Thanksgiving weekend starting with the above channa masala.
To set the tone here’s a little video of…

I thought I had explained this tradition last year but I can’t seem to find it in the archives. So, once again OR maybe for the first time, Thanksgiving (OBSERVED) was coined by my cousin Brian and born from my family being way too big to spend it with everyone at once. This day is all about the Anello’s and the Crocitto’s getting together much like we did years ago when all us “kids” we just a few years old. Our parents used to live in the same apartment building before we showed up and I think that was really the start of the two families being close. We have grown in numbers over the years. This year we maxed out for the first time with all four “kids” having their significant others at the table.
I am sure it comes as no surprise that the eating at this event is off the charts. As we placed each dish on the 12 foot wooden table we quickly ran out of trivets and shortly after ran out of table surface. With a full table the only option was to start eating so we could make room for what could not yet fit. The above picture (See it bigger) captures the antics that ensue when this loving crew get together. For further explanation see the very bottom of this post. But first, the food…

This year the crowd was larger and the bird was fresher. It’s hard to tell the story of Thanksbringing. For those of you not in the know, Thanksbringing is the yearly potluck in which I open my kitchen up to my wonderful friends who take turns cooking and heating up their contribution to our feast. Luckily modern technology has allowed for the storytelling to be a bit more graphic this year. The above video shows the sorted journey of our delicious bird. There is a special guest chef and a whole lot of prep happening. On the full post page is the slideshow of all the tasty dishes and the smiles of those who consumed them. Thanks again to all of YOU for being YOU! Click “continue reading” to see the slideshow.

Yestraday I went to my Uncle Toma nd Aunt Lorraine’s house for T-Day. The table totalled 23 people and it was covered with food not once but twice. The amount of food is staggering, as usual. Above is one of teh more unique items that hit the table. Keri and Chris turned the normal mac and cheese on its head by adding a peculiar but delicious crust. CHEEZ-IT!!! Amazing addition to an already tasty dish.
I am keeping it short today, I have to continue working on digesting. I hope everyone had a great Turkey day and has a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.
