In honor of the Ghostbusters reboot that opened this weekend, we bring you this hilarious design by David Staffell. Who doesn’t love the Stay Puffed finally from the original? Hear there’s a nice cameo in the reboot, which brought in $46 Million over the weekend. Love the move for a full lady cast. We’ve always been big Ghostbuster fans, sorry. Ok, back to the T-Shirt, Officially named “Something Strange, In Your Beverage…” David’s idea to put all that mascot man’s sweet goodness into a giant cup of hot chocolate makes our post winter sledding mouths water. Weird to say in the middle of a July heat wave but we can still dream.
More Design Stuff
Wild Mushroom Botanical Prints
Our dining room doubles as a watercolor studio these days. Botanical art being a big part of the weekend. It’s no wonder that a stop at Bower Studio’s booth at the Renegade Craft was mandatory. Vincent Frano and Isa Wang screen their delicate and intricate designs on patches, pins, bags, scarves and cards. The best part, the paper stock is seeded, therefore plantable. Who doesn’t want a greeting card that turns into a bunch of wildflowers? The above set of wild mushroom prints are unmatted, original ink drawings with digitally collaged watercolor that is printed with Epson archival inks on textured Fabriano watercolor paper. The essence of their craft is humbly articulated in their website description. “…to create functional artwork that encourages environmental stewardship, highlighting the diversity of American flora and fauna with educational products that use environmentally friendly materials.” We kind of LOVE that.
Hot Diggity Posters by Hawk Krall
We first learned about Hawk Krall and his illustrations on a trip to Philly. We popped into Hot Diggity, a South St. Hot Dog joint, and the menu was a set up 15+ visual masterpieces. The walls at Hot Diggity are embellished with Hawk’s unique designs. Besides listing the ingredients and displaying the hotdog, he peppers in specifics about the cities the Frank’s are named after creating art so interesting that they sell prints of the menu. Hawk’s gone on to illustrate lots more food things. From festivals to T-Shirts to MORE menus, his unique hand preemptively conveys the food fun your about to have.
Phin and Phebes Pints of Positivity
We are huge fans of Phin and Phebes ice cream. Not such big fans of this election. WTF. It’s like Mark Burnett was put in charge of running things. Ice cream has always made everything better. Nobody knows that better than these ladies. Partnering with Madewell, they took a stand and started the Phin and Phebes Pints of Positivity campaign. Show your colors. Join the movement. Wear some schwag with pride. Ohh, and don’t really vote ice cream. Please vote for one of the primary candidates we don’t need any more skewed election drama on poll day.
Po-Boy Poster
Dirty Coast is one of our favorite New Orleans shops. Dedicated to all things NOLA, the Po-Boy Poster ranks as one of our favorites. We love deconstructions. We flip out over exploded views. We think sandwiches are a food group. I don’t think this needs more explanation but this 12.5 X 14.5, french paper, Po-Boy Poster gives the newbee a crash course in components and construction. If you decide to give this as a gift please be sure to explain what “dressed” means and insist that if ordered “dressed” is mandatory.
