The other day I headed to Long Island for an over night stay at the parents house. I had a few things to do and I had not been to their house in a while. Whenever I go home during the summer my mother and I take the day to run some errands and go to lunch, a little mom and Ant time. We went to Fanatico for a couple salads. We were thinking of keeping it light and healthy and their salads are really good and filling. However, the healthy thing went out the window when my mother brought up the Chicken Marsala Roll. Mom said it was great but I wanted to keep it healthy….. I caved very easily.
It was really good and I could not finish it all because of the big salad. I should have started with the Chicken Marsala Roll. The taste was delicious and had the right amount of chicken and sauce. Pizzeria’s should make these. They make chicken parm rolls.

Momma Anello’s birthday was last Wednesday and the southerner and I headed to Long Island to have some dinner. We went to a little hidden gem that is always packed called the West End Cafe. The food is always great. There was a little confusion at the table and we ended up ordering about six appitizers. One of the more unique dishes we got were duck sliders. I thought it was going to come more like a pulled pork but it was in a paddy. It really had some good flavors. Speaking of flavors the crab tower was flavorful but I felt it needed more crab in it. (see above). The dinner rolls were also a highlight on the table. Really fresh and was baked with pesto and olive oil inside it. You never want to fill p on bread before the meal but this bread was worth every bit.

No, not the movie Twilight but the twilight when the sun goes down. AKA, we went for the early bird special. However, we did fray from the special and got a few extra appetizers that I think was the best part of the meal, personally. It was the first family meal since I have been back from the ship. Only the southerner was missing. Who happens to be a huge fan of the movie twilight. See how everything is intertwined.

Jay and I headed out to Huntington Long Island to meet our family on the night of the past big storm. Driving was not the safest that night. The wind was blowing the truck all over the place and the rain was coming from all directions. However, we knew when we finally made it to Huntington we were in for a treat. Bravo Nader is a small restaurant that our family loves to go to. The food is always outstanding. We never order our entrée’s off the menu, EVER. Their specials are just that, special. We call ahead usually to make sure they have the Ossobuco special, seen above, because someone at the table has to have one so we can all try it. It’s Killer!! This table had the entire special list that night including two gigantic Prime Rib’s that Mr. Nader himself told us about on the down low. Here is a rundown of the special specials. There are so many I had to put them in a slideshow.
Special apps, dinner, and dessert
After we left the rain was still coming from all directions. Long Island was starting to flood and was loosing their power left and right. We spent the rest of the night in the dark playing a board game. No, I didn’t win but had fun playing one of the games I haven’t played since I was a kid. I wasn’t on my game. My mind was probably still focused on the delicious meal we ate at Bravo Nader.

I am home for only a few months and I like to see as many of my friends and family as I can before I ship off. I went to go visit my cousins out in Long Island with my mom. It’s been about a year and a half since I had been there and was really excited to see them, meet their chocolate lab (Bella) and see what they have done to their house.
Mom was treating for lunch that day so we were thinking of where to eat before we left the house. There were a lot of choices but my cousin mentioned her favorite burger place in Port Jefferson. Even though I had a burger the night before at BLT Burger my mind was set. If it’s my cousin’s favorite then I had to try it.

Cheesecake Factory from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.
My girlfriend Kelsey made it in town for a long weekend. I was super excited to see her and for her to meet my family and friends. We jumped on a train in the morning headed to Long Island to meet the parents. This was the first time Kelsey was meeting my parents so I thought why not meet over lunch at one of my favorite spots in Long Island, Cheesecake Factory. I have never had a bad meal at Cheesecake Factory. I had a couple of my usual staples and I nibbled on a little cheesecake. That cheesecake is hard to resist but half of it went home in a doggy bag as did half my burger. It was a great afternoon having Kelsey meet my parents and whacking down a great lunch in the process.
