Diabetic Blood Sugar Count

I have been home just under a week and I finally got around to having dinner with my good friend Josh. We were both trying to figure out where to meet for dinner and we came across the typical story when it comes to figuring out where to go to eat. Even though there are literally thousands of restaurants in Manhattan we both couldn’t figure out which one to go to, same ol story. We are always looking for the perfect storm when it comes to choosing a restaurant, Good food, not expensive and not to many people. After about an hour we still couldn’t come to a conclusion.
My girlfriend Kelsey is from South Carolina and she has always talked to me about really good southern food. I thought about her favorite thing to eat, fried Okra, and it dawned on me, Acme is a southern comfort restaurant. It’s the perfect place, good food, not to expensive, and its located in a perfect middle ground for both of us to travel to.
I ended up with the sausage, chicken and crawfish jambalaya, a southern staple. I loved it but couldn’t eat it all, way to much rice for me and my diabetes. We also filled up on some apps. I had to try the fried Okra and see if it would be up to Kelsey’s standard. It was delicious; I could stop eating them and ended up binging home the scraps in a doggy bag along with the catfish sticks. I haven’t been to Acme in a really long time and they are still serving up some great southern food. In about two weeks I will be in South Carolina to compare.
Not the greatest meal for my numbers, but I limited how much I ate. Rice is not normally what I eat because it turn into sugar instantly but every once in a while it’s ok if you keep it in proportion.
