A random Friday night took me into a dinner with two of my friends that I have been in desperate need of a “catch up” with. Barb, Laura and I met for a sip and then we all turned hungry. Already in the East Village, Solas, we decided to try and get into Caracas. A crowd outside thwarted that plan and the nyc dinner dance began. We bounced from restaurant to restaurant for about 30 minutes before we settled in at a very empty Boucarou Lounge. In a full def con 1 hunger situation at this point, we quickly ordered a sampler plate, some fries and the soup pictured above. I am going to skip the food description this time. Nothing fantastic to report. Basics on the plate some egg rolls, lamb chops and some scallops I think. A peek below.
At the close of our meal the ladies decided it was dessert time. They had already scoped out a bakery a few blocks away. Apparently on the walk to dinner there was a big sign that shouted SWEETS! from one of the side streets we passed. Like bloodhounds they navigated me back to a little shop on 5th st. The glass case held an insane amount of different sweets. 14 types of cookies, 12 types of cakes, muffins, breads, brownies. The choice was endless. They settled just far of too much food. Sitting in front of us was a chocolate tart, another sugary creation that escapes my memory probably due to the sugar shock I went through during this portion of the evening. The final sweet was this giant piece Red Velvet cake, the clear winner of all three anti-dental desserts.
Post cake, we decided it was time to head home. We split off our separate ways to burn off the sugar highs and hopefully settle down into a digestive slumber.
