Day 2 in Japan brought me to Otaru. We walked around town all day checking out the local markets and shops. We walked a little out of town and made it to a sake brewery. We tried 4 different types of Sake, all cold. We tried to ask for some hot sake but she just kept smiling and bowing at us. It was funny. The sake was not as strong as I was used to. Seemed a little watered down but maybe that is how sake is supposed to taste. We walked around and saw all the brewing tanks and what was used to make the sake. It was fun. We walked away with a couple bottles to bring back to the ship. All that drinking and walking worked up our appetites. I was determined to walk into a sushi bar and just point at a picture at some sushi. That’s what you do in Japan. Never saw any sushi rolls but lots of sashimi. I couldn’t tell you where we went because it is all in Japanese but it was a great experience and fun. We ordered 3 sushi plates and a bowel of rice with yellow stuff on it. That yellow stuff turned out to be sea urchin. The sea urchin went down but really really slow. My 3 friends sucked out the guts and brains of a prawn and I ate all the fish eggs. Over all, it was great to have sushi in Japan.
