There is nothing better than a late lunch in a tiny West Village restaurant with a buddy. Even better when that buddy is also a business colleague and the lunch is productive, creative and expens-ible.
I have been wanting to visit Cafe Cluny for a while and this recent summer day it finally worked out. I arrived first and sat at a table for two to wait for Elliott. While waiting I wound up chatting with the couple next to me and the waiter. The conversation was about the burger at Cluny vs. the burger at the Corner Bistro. Not even a comparison because the two are so drastically different but I entertained them none the less. The waiter had yet to visit the famed burger spot just around the corner. Astonished we all ordered him to immediately christen his tongue with the mouth watering sandwich.
Elliott arrived and we got immediately down to some Arnold Palmers and yBike talk. Elliott filmed and edited tons of shorts for our last campaign. Part of this lunch was to talk about upcoming work and discuss some new edits that we were working on for the yBike project.
I ordered a tuna sandwich. Although it was delicious, it was not what I expected. The fries along side were tasty in their shoestringness. The lunch ended with another round of AP’s and some solid decisions with the projects. Unfortunately, the one thing that was not completely sorted was if I loved the food or not. The ambiance, service and company were certainly great but I was still not sure about the meal. A second visit is certainly on the necessary. Perhaps this time I need to order the burger.
