Kars, Kids and Key Lime

This weekend started off with a jam packed Friday Night. I had already said NO to a few dinners, a couple parties and a trip to DC with intentions of trying to get some rest this weekend. A Friday night with no obligations was just what was in order. I kicked it off with a Good-ol’NYC-Sabrett-dog. (mustard and kraut of course)

After that, I checked out the NY Car show at the Jacob Javits Center. My friend Amy was kind enough to send me some complimentary tickets. The show was great. The highlight was, yes again, the 2010 Chevy Camaro. Old habits die hard, I still love this car. Continuing to draft on the transformers movie fame, they had a replica “bumble bee” both non-transformed and transformed. Among the other highlights was watching couples sit in all of the high end Beemers and Mercedes dreaming about one day owning these ultimate driving machines. All and all, I would have liked to see more concept vehicles but I guess this isn’t the year for car companies to be experimenting with new designs and outlandish concepts.

Alexa Rubine arrived earlier this week and, after leaving the car show, I hopped into a cab and headed to Park Slope for a visit. When I arrived Aunt Marisa was cooking up some dinner and little Alexa was hanging out with Mom. Uncle J. (moi) didn’t waste a second borrowing the little peanut from Mommy and spending some quality “get to know ya” time with her. After 3 diaper changes, a few crying outbursts and a half dozen cat naps (all inside an hour), dinner was served. Marisa started us out with a simple green salad and a homemade mustard vinigrette dressing. She followed that up with an outrageous, al dente, penne primivera. The pasta was so perfectly done I would have thought she was secretly taking lessons from my grandmother. The whole show was followed up with a Key Lime Tart that made us all slump down into our chairs and drop a huge sigh signaling our surrender to the dinner.

After a quick clean up, Tracy went to catch some rest and Marisa jumped in a cab back up to SOHA. Seth and I finished off the night by brewing up some coffee and catching up how he got from high school to daddy. I couldn’t help but think that it will be just a few short years and Alexa will be walking, talking and eating all sort sof things. Perhaps I sould look into creating some splecial baby fod recipes especially created fro my new little neice.
