Forking Tasty – Milking A Cow from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

While the southerner and I were at the Middleton Place we just happen to be in the farm area when they were milking the cows. I got to produce my own milk in a bucket. It felt a little strange at first but all in all it was fun… for about 30 seconds. See in the video how I make a couple squirts of milk and then I was outta there.

The Opposite of a Fast Food Burger

Forking Tasty – Black Shack Burger Joint from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

The Black Shack was a nice find. One correction from the video, The Steak House Burger does not have crispy fries on it, although that sounds great too, it has crispy onions, just like the Western Burger. After we were done eating the chief/owner came out to chat with us. The whole idea behind Black Shack Burger Joint is to give you a burger that the fast food chains of America have forgotten about when creating their burgers, essentially the correct way to make a burger. Those places like McDonald, Burger King, White Castle were the inspiration to show how a burger should really be made. White Castle is one of, if not the oldest burger joint. I’m sure their burgers were much better when they first came on the scene before the mass production line. Black Shack would be the opposite of White Castle, hence the name. Very clever.

I’m looking forward to heading back for a sloppy joe some time in the next couple weeks.

Forking Tasty, El Shrimp Bucket, Mazatlan from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

The Southerner and I had a little ATV adventure around Mazatlan and ended up at the El Shrimp Bucket. It was a really fun day but there was a small incident on the ATV. We had a minor accident and needed to know how to reverse but the guy we rented it from never showed us how. After the southerner jumped off the ATV to proclaim her innocence I put the ATV in neutral and had 2 Mexican guys help me push it back. The entire event was really hysterical. We were making a u-turn in front of a line of cars at a red light. Lets just say we never made a U it was more like an L into a telephone pole. We were fine and had a good laugh after. It was fun cruising around town on the ATV.

Forking Tasty – Philippe’s, San Diego from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

It has been a while since I have had some good italian food. When we port in San Diego there is an information booth across the street and I went in to get a map to Little Italy and asked for some recommendations. I really needed a Chicken Parm sandwich in my life, you know what I’m talking about. The lady at the front desk recommended Philippe’s. Yes, it is the touristy attraction but this place has been around since the 50′s. Little Italy is on India St and you can find Philippe’s at:
1742 India St
San Diego, CA 92101

Forking Tasty – The Shrimp Factory – Mazatlan from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

One of the great things about working on a ship is when you have family and friends visit you. Yes, they are vacation while you work but I find time to spend time with them. Thanksgiving week I had my parents come aboard and I took them to a bunch of restaurants around Mexico. Some of them I have already vlogged about like Pipi’s in Puerto Vallarta. There was a restaurant in Mazatlan that I have wanted to try since I came down to Mexico. I remember passing it in the taxi and salivating as we drove by. As hard as it was to hold myself back from going there, I was saving it to experience it with my parents.

Mazatlan is one of the shrimp Capitals of the world and what better restaurant to bring my parents than The Shrimp Factory. I’ll let the video tell the tail but the staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. I’m really happy I got to experience the multiple types of shrimp with my family.

Forking Tasty – Anthony’s in San Diego from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

I just need to ramble for a moment…You know those days when your in a rush and you want a quick bite to eat but you want that quick bite to be something you haven’t had before and you really want it to be something good because your starving, and because your starving you can’t make a decision on what to eat. Well, I had one of those days. In a mad scramble off the ship I found myself at Anthony’s Fishette, the same as Anthony’s Fish Grotto but the take out area. While running outside I remembered I was given a tip from a guest on the ship that they have the best fish tacos in San Diego. In the 20 minutes I had to run off the ship, eat and run back on the ship, I think I made the right choice under pressure conditions.

Forking Tasty – Pipis in Puerto Vallarta from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

Pipi’s has been the hot spot for the crew on the ship for really good Mexican food and dino size Margaritas. I have been here about 3 times now and it has not let me down. I walk out, I mean, roll out a happy camper each time I visit. I’m always greeted with a smile and the same waiters and Mariachi band is there every time. As for the food , well, you watch the video. I think it speaks for itself.

Ferris Oyster Bar – Victoria B.C. from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

I have not been to Victoria British Columbia a lot yet. I just started my next contract on the ship and was recommended by two friends to head to Ferris’ Upstairs Oysterbar. I only have a couple of weeks left on these Alaska runs and I can’t wait to go back. Victoria is a fun little city with lots of restaurants and bars. Hope I get a chance to try as many places as I can.

Pelmeni – Juneau Alaska from Anthony Anello on Vimeo.

Diabetic Blood Sugar Count
Pre-meal: 128 | Post-meal (1 hour): 123 | Insulin: 5 Units

My last day in Juneau I took a canoe to the Mendenhall Glacier. We were paddling for a while to get to the glacier and I worked up an appetite. Usually when I am really hungry I want the perfect meal. The perfect meal would be something delicious that will fill me up and doesn’t cost too much. I decided to get my last hit at Tracy’s King Crab Shack. I have to say that is my favorite place to go in Juneau to eat. However, it may be delicious but it didn’t fill me up. I walked by a crepe stand and saw a cheeseburger crepe on the menu. That sounded interesting and I would have liked to try it but they closed by the time that I decided to get it.
