One of the stops on our repositioning cruise from the Caribbean to Alaska was in Huatulco, Mexico. There is not much to do there but sit on the beach and eat some lunch. The beach was just off the pier from the ship. I got off the ship a little later than everyone else. I met some friends at a little restaurant on the beach and they raved about the guacamole. I ended up trying one of their taco because they over ordered.
It was good and the guacamole had a very fresh green color to it. The deal the waiters gave them was if you buy lunch you get a free chair to lie on the beach with. We all felt like that was a good deal because that is what we were going to do anyway.
I ordered beef and chicken fajitas to try something different than what my friends had. It was supposed to come with guacamole so I didn’t need to order a side of it. It took a little while for the food to get cooked and my friends sat in their free lounge chairs on the beach just a head of the restaurant. That’s where things started to go down hill. The food took forever to come and when it got there they forgot the guacamole. The soft tortilla’s that it came with were not so great so I needed to add the complementary hard tortilla shells under the soft to get a nice crunch and a little more flavor. Needless to say it was ok, not the best Mexican food I’ve had in Mexico.
Then to make matters worse, when I finally paid, which he tried to over charge me, they would not letiting me sit in my free chair. It became a big todo, and what was supposed to be a relaxing time on the beach after a nice Mexican lunch turned out to be not such a great time.
