Most of you know that I keep strict rules when it comes to PBJ’s. I am a purist. I think the fluff, nutella, etc should stay in the pantry. This is why I have avoided visiting Peanut Butter and Co. for years. This small shop in Greenwich Village has over a decade of sandwiches under it’s belt. Through the years PB and Co. has diversified into jarred PB and even lunchboxes. Despite my dismay for breaking the traditions I made a stop for lunch. I perused the menu a bit and realized quickly that Jelly was nowhere to be found. I am sure it is somewhere on the menu but the PB and Co. master chef liked a whole bunch of other condiments a whole more. I decided to go with the craziest thing I saw on the menu. Something that didn’t sound like it could work well together at all…

With Jen’s absence we had construction worker Joe stand in, literally. Also, Doreen is in the NY mix now. As initiation into the NY buzz team she brought the bread. A risky choice that paid off well. Yoga bread with Cranberries and sunflower seeds.

This Thursday was a bit of an audible. Jen and Rob came by for the event and they brought some new treats to the party. They also decided we needed to move the party to the kitchen. This resulted in some looks and subsequent nostalgia. We may have to go public with this little ritual. Yeah, I am talking office wide.
There were five new additions to the growing PBJ pantry
1. Skippy creamy (the only one that doesn’t give Rob heartburn)
2. Smuckers Strawberry Preserve
3. Smuckers Red Raspbery Jam
4. Stonewall Kitchen Raspberry Jam
5. Nutella
You guys all know I am a purist and Nutella doesn’t fit in. Fluff, walnut butter, etc are all not for the pure PBJ lover. I accepted Nutella’s place on teh table but only had it as a “dessert” sandwich.

Yesterday I flew to Boston for the fourth Jelly Talk. It’s a developer focused speaker series I started with Amit Gupta, founder of Jelly, Photojojo and commandshift3(a personal favorite of mine).
The talk went great. Seth and Ryan talked geo-location for about an hour making me jealous I don’t yet have an iPhone. But, lets back up about an hour…

This past Thursday Jen, my work wife, and I decided to invite some friends over to our area for a group PBJ day. The point of this was two fold. First, we wanted to make some friends and celebrate the wonder that is the peanut butter + the Jelly + the bread. Second, we wanted to get rid of some of our stock so that we could begin purchasing some new flavors of both the PB and the J. Jenny did a quick email out to some solid eater peeps in the office and we wound up with a nice crew of six. Below is each of our takes on what we ate and how it made us feel…

Today we decided to do a house cleaning. Over teh past few months of PBJ day we have accumulated quite a bit of jellies, jams and peanut butters. Although we didn’t put a huge dent in the left overs we did refrain from buying anything new. Next week we are planing an office PBJ social to spread the love and cut down on some of the inventory.
