I will be spending the next couple months in Alaska and plan on covering restaurants all around Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Vancouver. First stop in Alaska was Juneau. Juneau is a small town, much like all towns in Alaska. Right at the port there is a tram that takes you up Mount Roberts. There are a few trails to hike up there along with a restaurant. We went up to the top for the views, free internet and the flights of beer…

Diabetic Blood Sugar Count

Port Angeles Washington was my next American port. It is also where they filmed the Twilight movies. There is a scene in one of the movies where Bella and Edward go to a restaurant and Bella ordered the Ravioli’s. We needed to get those Ravioli’s. The restaurant is conveniently named Bella Italia

After a few weeks with out being in an American port we finally made it to San Diego. I was not sure what to do that day; it had been years since I was there last. I bumped into some friends from the ship on my way out and they were headed over to Coronado Island. I joined them for the little ferry ride over. We were all looking for some lunch…

My first time in Acapulco was a lot of fun. The day started off by being harassed by cab drivers wanting to take me anywhere for $10. Since I was by myself at the time I even had a cab driver ask me if he could drive me somewhere to get some, and I quote, “sucky sucky”. I had to laugh at his offer and told him all I wanted to do was meet my friends at the cliff divers…

One of the stops on our repositioning cruise from the Caribbean to Alaska was in Huatulco, Mexico. There is not much to do there but sit on the beach and eat some lunch. The beach was just off the pier from the ship. I got off the ship a little later than everyone else. I met some friends at a little restaurant on the beach and they raved about the guacamole. I ended up trying one of their taco because they over ordered…

Osso Buco for Mother's Day

To all our mother readers, we’re sure your “yesterday” was fantastic. Over at momma Anello’s house it was cooking as usual. This may look familiar to you, because it is. Mom Anello loves her osso buco and so there was no question as to what I would be cooking. A few changes to the recipe this time. More broth less sauce. It turned out great just like the rest of the day. A pre-meal shopping spree for mom and some quick hot dog appetizers kept the smiles on everyone’s face. Ant and I hope that all you moms are still feeling a little of that residual attention that Mother’s Day creates.

Pizzacake

Pizza. It’s arguably the quickest and most versatile fast food out there. The trend these days in NYC is to bring pizza back to its Napoli roots. Thinner crust, less topping and more time to make it equates to the gourmet-izing of this friendly snack. I have been to Napoli. The pizza is great. But, You don’t need to charge me $25 because you throw some kale on top of a super thin crust and have some 500 year old wood burning stove to cook it in. I was in Chicago this week, so I opted for the exact opposite of this New York pizza revolution in the video above.

IF IT RAINS: If it rains dinner is off. All donations will be refunded at the time we make this decision.

More on Reel Tasty:

Jason and Aimee pair a 5 course gourmet meal for 16 friends, some new and some old on a HUGE deck in Brooklyn. As the name implies, we will be screening a movie during the meal. Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of time pre-entree to mingle, catchup and meet some new friends. Once the sun goes down we will role the film in all its two story high glory. This is an experiment, so we are not sure how much silence or chatting will go on. That’s for you to decide. We hope you will come out and enjoy yourselves with us this summer. See you on the deck.

You can check out pics from our last dinner here.

If you can’t make this dinner but want us to send you an invite to the next one send us an email at dinners@forkingtasty.com and we will put you on out special list. Or join the facebook fan page and get announcement updates that way.

Portillo's-Chicago

Chicago hot dogs are famous like their pizza. I am not sure I understand why on either account. To be fair I was told to visit this place NOT for the hot dogs but for the Italian beef sandwich pictured on the next page…
